Academics

Cristo Rey St. Martin College Prep provides a rigorous 10-month college preparatory curriculum, and our students are invested in learning and experiencing what it takes to be admitted to and graduate from a four-year college or university.

The faculty consists of 22 teachers, two school counselors, two college counselors, two alumni directors, and three resource teachers. 66% of the teachers hold Master’s degrees. The student-to-faculty ratio is 15:1. In addition, there are 77 full- and part-time staff members and Corporate Work Study program drivers.

We strive to give each student both the challenge and the support to succeed in pursuit of their education and work to integrate the lessons they learn on their Corporate Work Study Program jobs and in the classroom. About 25% of CRSM students participate in College Bound Opportunities and/or the Waukegan to College program. These programs prepare high-potential, low-income students to succeed in college through academic support, mentorship, and college scholarship awards.

Students from Oportunidades Para Todos, Spanish for “opportunities for all,” shared reflections and led us in prayer. We also heard from representatives of our three endorsing communities: Mary Popit, SHCJ, of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus; Sr. Laura Goedken, OP, of the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa; and Br. Michael Gosch, CSV, of the Clerics of St. Viator. Together, we remembered those who have died in immigration custody or during enforcement actions and reflected on a truth at the heart of our faith: every person is made in the image of God and deserves dignity, compassion, and care.
